Residential
Type NM cable (AKA romex) is the wiring method most universally used in residential dwellings. NM cable must have a 90o conductor insulation rating, which is designated on the cable sheath by a "B", Type NM-B #12 and #14 is used for lighting and general purpose receptacle circuits, while #10/2 w/ground is commonly used for electric water heaters, #10/3 w/ground for electric dryers, and #8/3 w/ground and #6/3 w/ground for ranges and wall mounted ovens. Type "SER" cable with an insulated neutral is permitted for electrical ranges, wall ovens and dryers. These cables must be protected by overcurrent devices (circuit breakers) which do not exceed their rated ampacity.
Commercial
A commercial building is a type of building that is used for commercial use. These can include office buildings, warehouses, or retail (i.e. convenience stores, 'big box' stores, shopping malls, etc.). In urban locations, a commercial building often combines functions, such as an office on levels 2-10, with retail on floor 1. All municipalities / cities / regions maintain strict regulations on commercial type zoning, and have the authority to designate any zoned area as such. A business must be located inside of an area zoned at least partially for commerce to operate a business in (and out of) a commercial building.
Knob & Tube Rewiring
Knob and tube wiring (sometimes abbreviated K&T) was an early standardized method of electrical wiring in buildings, in common use in North America from about 1880 to the 1930s. It consisted of single insulated copper conductors run within wall or ceiling cavities, passing through joist and stud drill-holes via protective porcelain insulating tubes, and supported along their length on nailed-down porcelain knob insulators. Where conductors entered a wiring device such as a lamp or switch, or were pulled into a wall, they were protected by flexible cloth insulating sleeving called "loom". The first insulation was asphalt-saturated cotton cloth, then rubber became common. Wire splices in such installations were twisted for good mechanical strength, then soldered and wrapped with rubber insulating tape and friction tape (asphalt saturated cloth), or made inside metal junction boxes.
Remodels & Additions
The process of improving a structure or adding more square footage.
Emergency Backup Systems
Emergency power systems are a type of system, which may include lighting, generators and other apparatus, to provide backup resources in a crisis or when regular systems fail. They find uses in a wide variety of settings from residential homes to hospitals, scientific laboratories, data centers, telecommunication equipment and modern naval ships. Emergency power systems can rely on generators, deep cycle batteries, flywheel energy storage or hydrogen fuel cells. Finally, some homebrew emergency power systems use regular lead-acid car batteries, but these do not make a very efficient or reliable system.
Solar Panel Installations
Solar cells use sunlight to produce electricity. But what happens on a cloudy day? Learn all about solar cells and what it would take to power your house with solar energy.
Power Surge Protection
Thunderstorms and lightning are the most dramatic and destructive causes of power line problems. However, downed utility poles, birds, or even large industrial motors switching on and off can create power surges. Computerized appliances and electronics can be damaged or destroyed by overvoltage surges. Large appliances like air conditioners or refrigerators are less susceptible but can be damaged as well. Surges can damage appliances like refrigerators, washers, dryers, fans, dishwashers, and ovens. Ultra-sensitive electronic equipment - like TV's, VCR's, and computers - need additional protection.
Troubleshooting
Repair power outlets, lighting, and other various electrical items that no longer work.
Hot Tub Wiring and Hookups
Install dedicated circuits and GFCI disconnects to power up your new hot tub.
Service Changes and Panel Upgrades
All homes have limited electrical capacity (as expressed in ampacity, the little number on your main breaker or on your fuses). When a service is upgraded or changed, that capacity is increased, allowing the potential for more circuits and more stuff (like a spa bathroom) to be installed and used.
Custom Homes
Custom electrical installations for your new home. We provide the highest quality electrical installations for your needs.
New construction
Electrical wiring for your new residential or commercial project.
Landscape Lighting
Custom landscape lighting to lighten up your walkways, driveways and all outdoor areas.
Home Inspections
Have one of our professionals inspect your electrical wiring to make sure that it is completely safe.
Telecommunications & Data Wiring
Telecommunication is the assisted transmission of signals over a distance for the purpose of communication. In earlier times, this may have involved the use of smoke signals, drums, semaphore, flags or heliograph. In modern times, telecommunication typically involves the use of electronic devices such as the telephone, television, radio or computer. Early inventors in the field of telecommunication include Alexander Graham Bell, Guglielmo Marconi and John Logie Baird. Telecommunication is an important part of the world economy and the telecommunication industry's revenue was estimated to be $1.2 trillion in 2006.
Chandelier and Ceiling Fan Installations
We will install your new ceiling fan or chandelier. Sometimes a new heavy duty junction box is required to support your new fixture.
